Maybe you came out of the closet in hopes that it would be freeing, only to find yourself facing challenges you were never taught to navigate. You’ve thought, maybe I’ll just move away, cut off ties with people, and create my chosen family, only to find that it is much harder than it looks. You’ve downloaded the hook-up apps, only to find that you have been with many strangers and crave a more fulfilling loving relationship. You’ve always wanted to attend a Pride parade but don’t feel like you belong and are unsure what to be proud of because the very community that is supposed to embrace you has made you feel so alone. The LGBTQIA+ Community is a resilient community that has had to overcome a lot, and despite that, there are a lot of damaged people in the community, that hurt their own.
