How IMGs Can Work in Texas USA Without Residency

Let’s be honest, if you’re an International Medical Graduate (IMG), you already know what’s coming. You have the degree, the work experience and perhaps years of practice in your home country. But the coveted residency match in the U.S. can feel like a lottery ticket. It is highly competitive, and many qualified physicians are left without opportunities.

But here’s the good news, Texas recently flipped that switch. Confronted with severe physician shortages, the state has introduced new pathways that allow experienced IMGs to practice under supervision without completing a full U.S. residency. This is not merely a “fellowship” or a research gig; it’s genuine patient care. Texas is now the place to be for doctors refusing to allow a residency match to dictate their career.
