By integrating Floortime’s social-emotional goals and techniques with Speech and Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Social Groups, and other important services, we can help establish and strengthen the necessary skills to be successful in life and in school. These skills include communication, thinking, self-control, and flexibility. We believe in 3 key principles. The first is following a child’s lead to join their world, harness motivation, and help the child feel more in control. Secondly, to challenge the child to move up the developmental ladder, help with social problem-solving, thinking, and tolerating stress/frustration. Lastly, to expand (without taking control) to encourage creativity, abstract thinking, and understanding dynamic patterns.
