According to Vedic astrology, Yantra astrology is a science that can be harnessed through the five elements – earth, water, fire, sky and air; by reciting mantras to control nature in one's own interest. The deities are worshipped in various forms and each form is associated with a yantra. The Yantra uses signs and inscriptions to remove the malefic effects of a planet and increase its benefic results. Vedic yantras are thus a graphic representation of mantras. Yantras can be draw, engrave or painted on a variety of materials such as the eight tantric surfaces – gold, silver, copper, crystal, birch, bone, leather (which can include any type of paper) and the Vishnu stone (Shaligrama). Yantras should be looked at daily in the morning and an incense stick or lamp should be lit in front of them every morning.
