The government has extended the period of time that factories in SEZs can contract out production factories outside of these economic enclaves, from one year to three years. This time frame used to be restricted to a single year.The easing would allow SEZ units to outsource more of their manufacturing to domestic units for longer periods of time (DTA). The administration has chosen to take this measure to boost the manufacturing sector and exports.
