Business Description
The Resolution Directorate (RD) is a self-standing directorate in the Bank of England, with around 75 people divided into two divisions: Execution and Policy (including legal advisers). The area is headed by Executive Director and reports to the Deputy Governor for Financial Stability. Resolution Directorate is responsible for ensuring the orderly resolution of banks, building societies investment firms, holding companies and central counterparties in the event of failure. Learning the lessons of the financial crisis, our aim is to ensure these firms can be resolved without systemic consequences and without risking public funds. This work puts the RD at the forefront of domestic and international (including Financial Stability Board & G20) work to ensure no firm is too big or too complex to fail.
