5 Must-Try Thrilling Rides at Doha Quest

Where do you go for some theme park fun in Doha? You go to Quest, a 32,000-square-meter indoor theme park located right in Doha Oasis with more than 30 rides and attractions everyone in the family will love.

Doha Oasis is an exclusive, built-up lifestyle, leisure and recreation destination in Doha, Qatar. 1. EpiQ Coaster

EpiQ is right because this tall, totally indoor roller coaster is epic. It soars 60 meters up and currently holds the record for the world’s tallest indoor roller coaster, according to the Guinness World Records. It is fast, too, with a top speed of 91 kilometers per hour.

The rollercoaster starts calmly enough. From the boarding gate, the ride coasts along on meandering tracks until it halts inside a tunnel. There, Spike, the space-hedgehog, welcomes you and tells you your mission. Once your guard is down, the coaster rapidly pulls back and climbs up the vertical tower to attain maximum height and, just as abruptly, drops you down and then drags you along the rest of the twisting tracks.

EpiQ lasts only 90 seconds, but you’d be screaming throughout. You will also be unable to resist coming back multiple times.

Important: Find EpiQ at Gravity Station. You must be between 140 and 195 centimeters to be allowed on the EpiQ.

2. Magma Blast

It’s a drop tower, but themed and so much better. Standing at 56.736 m, Magma Blast holds the record for the Guinness World Records’ tallest indoor drop tower ride. It’s not a regular drop tower, either. It has a whole backstory to explain the ride.

Apparently, you’re part of a team on a research probe that travels to the Earth’s core. Your mission: Tap the world’s geothermal energy. After magma is detected, you must now escape, so your vehicle must blast off and take you out of harm’s way.

The actual ride starts at this juncture. You will shoot up the tower and then suddenly drop down, and you will continue to climb and fall in turns and at varying speeds for three minutes.

Important: Find Magma Blast in the City of Imagination. You must be at least 130 cm if riding accompanied by a responsible adult or at least 140 cm if riding without an adult companion.

3. Fly With Flap

Flap is a character in the 3D flying theatre ride Wings of Destiny. It’s a tropical bird, lively, energetic, a little bit of a worrywart, and a loyal friend to Firnas, an inventor and Wings of Destiny’s main character. In this ride, you get to experience what it would feel like if you could fly like Flap.

Fly With Flap is a single-seat, suspended cloud coaster. It’s relatively slow compared to other rollercoasters in the park, but it can definitely get hairy in one or two spots during the thirty seconds you spend aloft as you traverse the park.

Important: Find Fly With Flap in the City of Imagination. To ride, you must be between 120 and 180 cm tall and weigh between 30 and 113 kilograms.

4. Aero Flip

Try it, and you’ll surely flip. Aero Flip is a high-speed centrifugal ride inspired by the acrobatic feats of fighter jets.

Strap in because this ride soars, revolves, and spins. A pair of seats is bolted to one end of a horizontal pole, which is perpendicularly affixed to a fuselage-like structure, which is itself attached, spoke-like, to a massive central hub.

As the ride kicks into gear, the central hub spins, making the spokes revolve around the hub and the ‘jets’ soar. Next, it gets wild, as the unbalanced poles also start to swing, twist, and then spin around and around its axis with no regard for gravity or your sense of direction. It’s like a full-body aerial assault, part fighter-pilot fantasy, part physics-defying mayhem.

Important: Find Aero Flip in Oryxville. Children may ride it, but they must be at least 132 cm if accompanied by a responsible adult or at least 140 cm if going unaccompanied.

5. Gravity Swing

It’s gravity-defying, that’s for sure. Gravity Swing is a ride that approximates the way pendulums swing. First, you’ll strap into outward-facing seats on a disk-like contraption suspended from a vertical arm. Next, the pendulum will start swinging left, right, and then back again and again.

It all begins with gentle swaying motions, deceptively calm and almost soothing. Don’t get too comfortable, however. With every pass, the suspended pendulum builds power, swinging harder, faster, and higher. Soon, the entire disk launches into a dizzying arc, climbing the air like it cannot feel gravity, going on nearly 90-degree swings until you’re almost fully horizontal, facing either the ground or the ceiling.

Although the ride lasts only 90 seconds, it will surely become one of the most memorable one-and-a-half minutes of your life.

Important: Find Gravity Swing in Gravity station. Unaccompanied children may ride it as long as they are at least 130 cm tall. Otherwise, they must be accompanied by a responsible adult and measure at least 120 cm tall.
